About Our Dance Studio
Tempe Dance West is a professional dance academy offering comprehensive study to all students, regardless of ability or reason for study. Our teaching philosophy is to always demand the best of each student, whether he or she plans to perform professionally or not. This philosophy allows us to provide the highest quality of dance education and instill a love for the art of dance in all of our students.
Tempe Dance West
Tempe Dance Academy has been in business for over 53 years. Owner and director Wanda Manville oversees the locations in Tucson, Tempe and Phoenix. Tempe Dance West, now in its second year, is owned and directed by Michael Cook.
Tempe Dance alumni can be seen dancing around the world, performing Aida, Phantom of The Opera, Contact, and The Lion King on Broadway, the Radio City Rockettes, the Radio City Christmas Show, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Ballet Arizona, River North Dance Chicago, Zurich Ballet, Bad Boys of Dance, Cirque Du Soleil's IRIS at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, and the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance.
Tempe Dance also stresses the importance of higher education. Students have been accepted to colleges such as The Juilliard School, Marymount Manhattan, Fordham, Point Park, University of Oklahoma, San Diego State, and the University of Arizona. Many more have gone on to very successful teaching careers.
Tempe Dance provides outstanding technical training in a positive environment that focuses on the life skills of dependability, punctuality, and responsibility. We strive to provide students with not only the technical skills to pursue a professional dance career, should they be interested, but more importantly to arm them with essential life skills that lead to success in whatever they pursue.
Our incredibly talented teachers, combined with wonderfully supportive parents and fabulous students, have earned Tempe Dance a reputation as one of the top studios in the United States.
